Kurzweil announced the KAES8 I/O expansion option for the KSP8 signal processor, adding 8 channels of digital inputs and outputs through selectable AES/EBU. With this option installed the KSP8 can process up to 8 of 14 possible inputs.
The KAES8, along with the KANA4 (analog I/O), KADT8 (ADAT and TDIF format) and KFWR8 (mLan/Firewire) options, allows the KSP8 to operate in any mixing environment from live sound, home, project or professional mixing and mastering studio. The KSP8 multi-bus signal processor is an 8-channel effects system designed for the professional engineer, producer, or musician. Unlike other high-end effects systems whose DSP resources are fixed to a small number of processing engines, the 16 available processing units of the KSP8 may be freely shared among up to 8 effects busses.
Expected to be in stores in November 2002, the KAES8 will have a suggested retail price of $409.
