Antares to Port Auto-Tune and Microphone Modeler to UAD-1 CardMay 18, 2001 Universal Audio and Antares Audio Technologies announced today that they have entered into a agreement in principle to bring Antares's Auto-Tune 3 and Microphone Modeler plug-ins to the Universal Audio UAD-1 DSP card. The UAD-1 DSP card is the heart of UA's new Powered Plug-Ins product line. Using a single proprietary DSP chip, the UAD-1 provides processing which allows UA and its developers to create plug-ins of for VST-based native workstations. "Although the power of native CPUs is increasing at a rapid rate, the serious user's demand for more processing power is increasing much faster," said Marco Alpert, Antares Vice President of Marketing. "The UAD-1 not only provides the ability to run more plug-ins simultaneously, but also offers the kind of raw processing power that can inspire the creation of entirely new plug-ins that would simply not be possible on a native system."
