We're going to shorten our notes just a TINY bit...just enough to leave a "hole" for the snare drum. Listen closely... Notice that when the snare on two and four comes in, the bass note has stopped to allow the snare to "breathe". Suddenly, the track feels just a BIT more controlled. Should you always do this? Use your ears. Sometimes it's good to let 'em ring. But you need to KNOW when you're doing that. |
