If we use a 1 fret bend starting on the b3 scale degree, our target note is the natural 3rd. This is a very strong sound. In the key of A, this means bending the C (b3 degree) up to the C# (natural 3 degree). This is shown in the example below where the C on the 3rd string, 5th fret, is being bent up to the C# at the 6th fret. Some variations on this theme are given so that you can hear it in different contexts.
