Coda Releases Finale® 2000 for Mac and Windows

Aug 23, 1999

Coda's Finale notation software just got better. According to John Paulson,Coda's Chairman and CEO, "Finale 2000 marks the 10th anniversary of Coda's mission to provide state-of-the-art music notation software. What began ten years ago as a most ambitious endeavor has matured into the standard for the world's largest music publishers. Deeper power, a much easier-to-use interface, dramatic speed increases and a new community of third-party plug-in developers are all part of Finale's progress through the decade. Finale 2000 is an upgrade unlike any other Coda Music Technology has ever released."

The new Finale 2000 Set-Up Wizard lets users select their instruments and instantly sets up the score - staff names, transpositions and clefs are automatic. Dozens of other templates are also provided such as Lead Sheet, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band, Guitar Tablature or SATB with piano. Additional features that significantly improve Finale 2000's ease-of-use include:

  • Finale's patented HyperScribe® feature enters notes as a MIDI keyboard is played
  • Imports scanned sheet music from the world's most reliable music scanning technology: MidiScan® from Musitek®
  • QuickStart® video tips and instant help messages teach the basics of Finale 2000 right on the computer screen
  • Music is now spaced automatically as it is entered

Finale 2000 provides absolute control over every element on the page. No symbol, no detail, no bizarre musical passage is beyond Finale - it can do everything! Over 40 Plug-ins are included in this 10th Anniversary Edition to provide power and short cuts for all levels of users.

Music looks great as it is entered with Fibonacci note spacing. The product ships with six font choices, including two new Maestro fonts that make the music look like it came from an engraver instead of a computer. The 10th Anniversary Edition also includes a free Jazz font with product registration. Numerous third party fonts are available separately.

To make upgrading as simple as possible, Coda has set up a new online registration and shopping location: www.codamusic.com/shopnow. This web site is also available for more product information and for the location of dealers who can sell first-time buyers their new Finale 2000 product.
