D'Addario Announces Formation Of Musician's Advisory BoardJun 14, 1995 If a company is to stay on the vanguard of its business with innovations and improvements, it needs input and ideas from the top minds in the field. For that reason, J. D'Addario & Company, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of musical instrument strings, has announced the formation of the D'Addario/Vandoren/Evans Musician's Advisory Board. The board will consist of 8-12 professional musicians and scientists, each with a two-year tenure. Board members will be an integral part of the new product development process. Factory visits by the artists will enable D'Addario engineers, technicians, and marketing people to zero in on specific product needs. "By having some of the world's most respected musicians visit the factory with their instruments, we can hear and experience first-hand what it is they're looking for in strings, drumheads, reeds, or mouthpieces. Initially, we'll be focusing on bowed instrument strings and drumheads, as these are intense sales growth areas for our company," states Vice-President Jim D'Addario. Members already on the Board include: world-renowned violinist Elmar Oliveira; electric bass and bass viol player John Patitucci; Steve Rodby, bass player for the Pat Metheny Group; legendary jazz drummer Peter Erskine; Paul Wertico, drummer for the Pat Metheny Group; and John Ferraro, drummer for Larry Carlton. More members will be joining the Board in the near future. For more information about the D'Addario/Vandoren/Evans Musician's Advisory Board, contact J.
