David Garibaldi Biography

David Garibaldi is the drummer for Oakland-based funk/soul band Tower of Power.

Garibaldi was born of Italian descent in Oakland, California. He began playing the drums at age ten, and his parents bought him his first drum set in high school. In 1966, he enlisted in the 724th United States Air Force Band, at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. After his discharge in 1970, he returned to Oakland, and joined Tower of Power.

David left Tower of Power to tour with other groups, including the Buddy Rich Orchestra, the Yellowjackets and Wishful Thinking. He also worked with Tower of Power founder Stephen "Doc" Kupka on his special project The Strokeland Superband, and singer RAD.

David returned to Tower of Power in 1998, and is still touring with them.
