This lick is similar in concept to the example shown in page 4, but now we are descending instead of ascending. Also, the example in page 4 repeats itself twice in every octave. In this classic example of a repeating pattern in the diminished scale, the pattern shifts down three half steps every time it's repeated. This means that you can get four repetitions of the pattern in an octave before it starts all over again. The first four repetitions are shown in mms. 2-3, and we get two more in measure 4 before we run out of space...
