Duane Allman Biography
Howard Duane Allman (November 20, 1946 – October 29, 1971) was an American lead guitarist.
Allman is noted for his slide guitar skills. In 2003 Rolling Stone magazine named Duane Allman as number two on their list of the greatest guitarists of all time, trailing only Jimi Hendrix. [1] He was a noted session musician, was a founding member and the leader of The Allman Brothers Band, and also had a major role on the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, by Derek and the Dominos, a 1970-71 band led by Eric Clapton. His nickname was "Skydog".
