New at the 2004 Summer NAMM show is the POG from Electro-Harmonix. POG stands for Polyphonic Octave Generator, and with it, a guitarist can create an octave up, two octaves up, and an octave down sound all at the same time. With the POG, you can create a 12-string sound from a normal 6-string guitar, or go beyond the realm of reality to create more unusual sounds like an 18-string guitar, or emulate bass and organ sounds. It can be used for single notes, arpeggios, or chords, according to the company. Controls are also provided to mix in the detuned octave and 2 octave up sounds.
