Eventide Introduces New Digital I/O Expansion Boards for Orville

Eventide introduced two new digital I/O expansion boards for it's flagship effects processor, the Orville. They are the AES/EBU I/O board and the ADAT I/O board. These hardware upgrades are available for factory installation to all existing users for both the Orville and the blank panel version, the Orville/R which utilizes the EVE/NET remote control. These new upgrade boards provide expanded digital input and output capability for existing units.

"For the first time you can process eight discreet channels with Orville's incredibly powerful processing engine. Many of our high level users have requested the ability to connect more channels to Orville and we have provided these solutions," said Ray Maxwell, Eventide's VP of Sales and Marketing. "These new expansion boards open up the Orville for use in a wider variety of surround sound production as well as other multi-channel applications." The ADAT board provides the units with an optical ADAT I/O. Using this board, Orville users can now process all eight channels of digital in and out, or select the inputs and outputs in pairs and route them to and from the desired DSP engine. The ADAT board supports both 44.1 and 48 Khz sample rates and up to 24 bit resolution via a pair optical connectors.

The AES/EBU board replaces the analog I/O of the Orville with AES/EBU connections, giving it a full eight channels of balanced digital audio featuring up to 24 bit resolution and supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sampling frequencies. The new board also allows for includes sample rate conversion from one sample rate to any other without having to convert to analog and back again.
