FXpansion Releases VST-DX Adapter v2.1Jun 16, 2000 FXpansion Audio, the same people who brought you the original "Amulet" VST-to-DirectX Adapter, have announced the availability of the new version 2.1 Standard Edition. Building on our experiences with v2.0, the new version offers full support for Steinberg's VST 2.0 Virtual Instrument standard, in leading recording packages such as Cakewalk Audio 9.x series and SEK'D Samplitude 5.x. Thanks to months of work analysing the timing and other behaviour of these applications, VST 2.0 Instruments hosted via VST-DX Adapter deliver millisecond-accurate timing, and smooth integration in to the host application's own mixer. Thanks to improvements in soundcard and driver design, many people will also be able to play these instruments in real-time, using just the standard MME drivers. Latency figures as low as 11ms are possible. VST-DX Adapter v2.1 also adds the following useful features: - Preset program/bank support: VST-format plug-in settings files can now be loaded in, and factory presets made accessible.
- Improved MIDI automation: even better real-time or automated control for your VST FX plug-ins.
- Folding menu: organise your plug-ins in to sub-folders by manufacturer, type or however you wish.
- Enhanced ergonomics: bigger, easier-to-use faders, and improved window management.
VST-DX Adapter v2.1 Standard Edition is priced $60.00; the update is free to registered v2.0SE and v1.x users. V2.0 Basic Edition users can upgrade for $40.00; a free update featuring the ergonomic and folding menu enhancements of v2.1 will also be available to v2.0 Basic Edition users.
