Gibson Guitar Launches Online Guitar Lessons With Gibson Artists

Oct 10, 2006

Gibson Guitar has announced Gibson Guitar Lessons online with some of the world's greatest musicians. Working closely with companies like Homespun and Hal Leonard, Gibson offers fans the opportunity to learn lessons live on the web from featured artists like Hubert Sumlin and Sonny Osborne. Musicians have a chance to learn to play contemporary acoustic guitar, blues mandolin, funk guitar, rock lead techniques and electric bass. Instructors including Steve James, Ross Bolton, Danny Gill and Nick Nolan all share their experience with various techniques and steps so that the person can learn step by step.

Each month the Gibson Guitar Lessons will feature a Gibson artist and include interviews along with some of the artist's own anecdotes. This month, legend Sonny Osborne teaches the viewer the bluegrass banjo and Hubert Sumlin discusses his style and influences with guitarist Jimmy Vivino of the Conan O'Brien band. Backed up by a stellar rhythm session, Hubert plays his famous Howlin' Wolf tune "Smokestack Lightening."

Legendary Sonny Osborne's lesson is a detailed instruction that includes historical references and insightful advice. Osborne teaches his stylistic innovation on the classic "Sunny Side of the Mountain."

"There are so many people who love Gibson Guitar that we wanted to give them an opportunity to join some of their favorite musicians online and learn from the pros in the privacy of their own home," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. "The Gibson Guitar lessons are a unique feature specifically designed to help Gibson fans everywhere learn to play their favorite chords while sharing some of our rich musical history."

Gibson online guitar lessons will be updated frequently and provide the audience an ever-changing landscape and insight to many artists and techniques. Once online you can choose from a variety of lessons and guest features.
