Ibanez Introduces The 7-String Xiphos Electric GuitarJan 29, 2008 Click image for closeup | At last year's January NAMM musical instrument convention in Anaheim, Ibanez Guitars declared and delivered on a renewed focus on its offerings to the metal-minded and continued the attack at the Austin Summer NAMM show. At the 2008 January NAMM show, the Ibanez battle for the dark hearts and minds of the metal players shows no signs of abating One strong indication is the XPT707FX, the first seven-string radically-shaped Xiphos model. The Xiphos 7-string features a 5pc Wizard II thru-neck and DiMarzio D Activator 7-string pickups, which offer the characteristic sound of active pickups favored by metalheads, but without the active circuitry. Unlike the original 6-string Xiphos, the 7-string model features a fixed bridge instead of a double-locking tremolo system. The radically shaped axe is finished in Grey Chameleon, a color which changes hue at different angles. The list price $1066.65.
