| Among the many limited production offerings at the Ibanez booth at the Austin NAMM Show, one in particular stood out: Soundgear Prestige basses with Spalted Maple bodies. Commented Ibanez bass specialist Pete Chiovarou: "This is our first Soundgear in this great sounding and equally great looking wood. Good Spalted maple is quite rare—the figuring has to take place under just the right time and conditions, which is why many other high-end basses utilizing it go for $3,500 to $5,000." Two models of the Soundgear Prestige basses in Spalted Maple are available: The SR1000ESMNT 4-string, which lists for $1,866.65 and the SR1005ESMNT, which lists for $1999.99. Less than 30 pcs of each bass will be available in the United States.
