Remember to leave alot of space to start out with. A funk line can have a lot of room to develop. Here is an example in C#, a not so common jam key. What's the b7 of C#? Wait the coffee is ready... oops, needs cream... Did I hear you say B? Hang on, let me get my bass.....yes, it's B. Here is an example with a lot of space only using C#'s and B's.
