Jerry Donahue Biography
Jerry Donahue is a guitarist who played for such bands as "Poet And The One Man Band", Fotheringay, Fairport Convention, Joan Armatrading and more recently, the Hellecasters. He was born on September 24, 1946 in Manhattan, New York. Jerry is an acknowledged technical master, and a hallmark and highlight of his musical vocabulary is the country music guitar technique of string "bending". In fact Telecaster player Danny Gatton praised Donahue as, "The string-bending king of the planet". Jerry also produced instructional videotapes. and more recently is doing production including solo projects, Sandy Denny's "Gold Dust, Live at the Royalty" (May 1998), and the The Animals' Instinct" (2004). Wikipedia's List of Telecaster players would certainly be incomplete without Jerry Donuhue.

Around 1997, Fender made a Jerry Donahue signature Stratocaster in Japan, but Jerry's style and technique are closley associated with the '94 (?) signature Fender Telecaster (from Japan) and the Telecaster in general. Jerry's signature Strat' was even modified with a metal plate under the pickup to more closely emulate the Telecaster sound. More recently (2005) Peavey released the "Jerry Donahue Signature Omniac Guitar".
