Joemeek Releases JM478 'Meekrophone'

Joemeek has announced the release of a second solo feature microphone to add to their Meekrophone range. This microphone shares the design and quality features of the popular and respected JM47 'Meekrophone' and adds a unique figure 8 polar pattern circuit, to allow the possibility of stunning M&S recording.

The new microphone offers the same 1" gold diaphragm capsule as the JM47 (except that it now has dual active sides when in figure 8 mode), the same coupling transformer, and all new pre-amplifier and power circuitry. This allows the dual polarity phantom powering of the capsule required to give a perfectly stable figure 8 polar pattern, as well as the classic sounding cardioid mode. There is also a selectable high pass filter (100Hz).

The JM478 microphone is supplied in a luxury flight case, with a shockmount and mic cable. A new boom stand adaptor for studio recordings is also supplied. The mic is priced extremely competitively, using a combination of British design with volume offshore manufacture. There is no other figure 8 capable microphone in this price range that offers the pattern stability of the JM478. This enables infinitely more natural sounding stereo, and breathtaking acoustic recording results.

The JM478 microphone shares its release with the new 'Super TrakPak’, Joemeek's answer to achieving ultimate stereo acoustic recordings. The Super TrakPak is a combination of the JM47, new JM478 and VC7 dual channel mic pre. The 3 item package contains everything that a studio needs to get a perfect stereo line level sound onto a recording system. This really is the best way to capture real stereo from acoustic environments, i.e. choral groups, orchestras, small bands, percussion etc.
