Lexicon Automates the 960L

A sophisticated automation package is slated as the second in a series of software enhancements available for Lexicon's flagship 960L Multi-Channel Digital Effects System. The automation package comes on the heels of a delay and 96kHz reverb algorithm package that was released in 2001. Both are part of Lexicon's ongoing commitment to expand 960L capabilities through the release of regular software upgrades.

The optional automation package is available at authorized Lexicon dealers. Customers can purchase a dedicated "key" to unlock the automation feature in their existing 960L. Customers who register their 960Ls at www.lexicon.com will receive the delay and 96kHz algorithm package at no charge.

Automation allows program changes, pan moves, parameter adjustments, and mutes to be written and played back exactly as recorded. During recording or mixing sessions, users can perform other valuable functions while the 960L automatically makes previously-recorded changes synchronized to incoming MIDI timecode.

The 960L can store up to 100 automation sessions. Each session allows the user to define wordclock, global mix, and global input/output settings, as well as DSP card configuration and input/output routing. Because each automation session contains its own unique version of user register programs, the automation feature is essentially non-destructive. When a session is loaded, the state of the 960L is restored to the state saved with that session. When a session is closed, user register programs are restored to their previous state. Sessions can be run on various 960Ls without affecting the existing state of user register programs on each individual unit.

In addition, session data is saved independent of the originally-written timecode frame rate, allowing existing sessions to run at any frame rate without affecting timing accuracy. Sessions automatically conform to any incoming frame rate and remain real-time accurate.

"The new feature set is a direct result of feedback we received from leading artists, engineers and producers," stated Buzz Goodwin, Lexicon's Vice President of Sales. "The 960L is Lexicon's flagship processor and we plan to continue to expand and enhance its functionality on a regular basis."

The delay and 96K algorithms are available today. Automation will be available in February 2002. For the latest information about 960L enhancements, visit www.lexicon.com/960l/software-upgrades.html or contact an authorized Lexicon dealer.
