The neat touch is in the 4th beat of the measure, where you have a double-pull from the 12th to the 10th fret and then to the open string. The key to the pulls is to get some volume on them -- you need to hold the strings firmly with the fingers of your fretting hand prior to the pull and then jerk your finger off in a downward motion that picks the string downwards a bit. If you can get the hang of doing this moderately fast, it sounds pretty cool. In fact, as you can see, Lightnin' couldn't get enough of that double-pull, so he did it four times in the third measure of the solo! |
