In one simple step, the Lucid SSG192 Studio Sync Generator solves the ever-growing problem of digital jitter and its resultant distortion, and with interconnects and clock rates that span the protocols supported by both current and proposed technologies, the SSG192 fits seamlessly into any studio configuration. Already decorated with awards, it's the one stop solution for the problems created by an ever-growing number of digital studio devices.

The SSG192 can drive a studio via an internal clock set to any one of eleven standard frequencies spanning 32kHz to 192kHz or via an external clock derived from word clock, AES11, or video blackburst. Nine outputs eliminate the need for daisy chaining and include video sync, word clock (four outputs), AES11 (two outputs), Digidesign's 256X Superclock, and Lucid's proprietary 1024X Ultraclock. The SSG192 supports NTSC 59.94 or PAL/SECAM 50Hz video formats with a front panel LED array that provides a simple calculation for all common pull-up and pull-down rates using 0.1% and 4% correction factors. "While most studios start out daisy-chaining a few pieces of digital gear with acceptable results, they unfortunately continue that practice as the number of digital devices grows," observed Jim Latimer, director of sales and marketing, Lucid. "Phase lag and jitter become more of a problem, but because individuals add only a piece or two to the chain at a time, they seldom hear what a profound impact such timing irregularities are having on their audio.
