MPC4000 Operating System UpdatedJan 18, 2003 Akai continues to expand the power and flexibility of the MPC4000 with the release of operating system V1.40. The new operating system is the latest of several upgrades designed to continue the evolution of the MPC4000. The V1.40 operating system adds the ability to save directly to ATAPI, SCSI or USB CD-R/RW drives, providing convenient, low-cost removable media storage of up to 700 MB of data. This enhancement allows MPC projects to be saved directly to the on-board CD-R/RW drive. Discs can be shared with Mac and PC computers, as well as any O/S compatible MPC4000. Other improvements include support for linear and logarithmic velocity curves, and an enhanced Folder Info page that displays the size of the folder as well as the number of items and item types stored in the folder. Earlier operating system releases have included a number of powerful new features, such as real-time sample switching modulation, sample start-point modulation, and track mute automation, which help make the MPC4000 a powerful live performance tool.
