Meinl Introduces Collection Conga SeriesAug 23, 1999 The Collection Conga series is the result of twenty years of Meinl Percussionresearch and development. Meinl's finest craftsman working entirely by hand, fabricate this series of instruments using a traditional tuning system and True Skin buffalo heads. But the most unique feature of this series is the choice of exotic wood for the shells. These select woods are not normally used in the production of congas made in Thailand, since they are not indigenous to that region of the world. These woods come from Germany and are air-dryed and well cured before the manufacturing process begins. The Bavarian Wild Cherry (Prunus avium L.) and Bavarian Mountain Elm (Ulmus glabra Huds. em Moss) have been chosen based on their excellent sonic characteristics as well as beautiful grain. Meinl Collection Congas are available in three sizes: 11", 11 3/4" and 12 1/2". Their sound is powerful and their look is unique. For more information, visit Meinl at http://www.meinl.de/ |
