Playing the C melodic minor scale from the second degree (D) to the second degree (an octave higher) gives us the 2nd mode in the melodic minor scale.

There are a few ways to describe this mode. One of the best ways to look at it is by thinking of it as a Phrygian scale with a raised 6th note.

The chord that goes with this mode is the Sus(b9) chord.
