Muse Biography
Muse is an English rock band who blend many different genres of music together - combining classical, modern and even Latin themes into songs. They formed in Teignmouth, Devon in 1994. The band consists of frontman Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, keyboards, main songwriter), Dominic Howard (drums, percussion) and Chris Wolstenholme (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals). As of the release of their fourth album, Morgan Nicholls has also appeared with the band at live performances to provide keyboards, samples/synth, and backing vocals, however he is not official member of Muse, as stated by Matt Bellamy.
Many of Muse's albums, most notably Origin of Symmetry, have revolved around strange and often cryptic messages, sent by the band in a variety of ways.
Muse created what seemed to be a giant treasure hunt, and in their future set lists more anagrams pointed towards more complicated methods of decryption, including Caesar squares and the use of an Enigma M3 simulator. A second wave of fans complied to the demands of the clues, which involved writing the password on their bodies and including a picture in the email, and this time only four people were successful in getting a reply.
More recently Muse posted messages alluding to the progress of Black Holes and Revelations in a very indirect and cryptic way. As details emerged about the record, it has only now become apparent what parts of these messages referred to.
