New DY91C, WY1TS, and GY2E from Alvarez Yairi

Alvarez Yairi Guitars is adding three new models to its line-up for 2005.

The DY91C features back and sides made of Hawaiian koa, which delivers a charged mid-range with crsip trebles while maintaining a throaty bass response.The DY91C also features an abalone inlay, ebony fingerboard and bridge, solid cedar top, and Alvarez System 600T MkII preamp electronics. The DY91C lists for $2699.

The WY1TS is a new cutaway folk model in the performance acoustic electric line-up. The WY1TS features flame maple back and sides, a cedar top, and vintage tobacco sunburst finish, and lists for $1,999. Finally, the GY2E is a very special model originally developed with Grateful Dead icon Jerry Garcia. The cutaway jumbo model features a solid spruce top, hand scallop bracing, and the unusual Australian lacewood for back and sides. Musicians including Warren Haynes have already taken the GY2E to the stage; it lists for $2899.

Alvarez Yairi guitars are made in an old-fashioned workshop hidden in the Japanese mountain village of Gifu -- far from the computerized factories of high-volume guitar manufacturers. A family business for more than 60-years, Yairi remains resolute in honoring classic construction methods and using only the finest naturally seasoned wood materials.

All above models are scheduled for shipment in February.
