New Lucid Distribution Amps Now ShippingApr 03, 2001 Lucid is now shipping all four of the digital distribution amplifiers introduced at Winter NAMM 2001. Each DA features a selection of outputs designed to distribute audio or sync signals to multiple destinations. "Given the immense popularity of desktop recording formats, the new, small 1/2U Lucid distros are destined to serve this market well," noted Jim Latimer, Director of Sales and Marketing, Lucid. "It's a price/performance combination appealing to both pro and project studios." Of the four DAs, the Lucid AESx4 (MSRP $499) and CLKx6 (MSRP $399) perform the simplest set of tasks: taking the audio at their inputs and distributing it to a number of same-format destinations. The AESx4 receives either AES clock or audio and delivers it to four AES-connected units. The CLKx6 passes sync information, in Word Clock or Superclock format to six parallel outputs. The other two Lucid DAs offer an expanded set of features. The GENx6 (MSRP $599) distributes or generates sync information. It routes Word Clock or Superclock to six BNC outputs. With the flip of a switch, the unit operates as a stand-alone clock source, generating Word Clock or Superclock at frequencies of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. The SPDIFx7 (MSRP $399) takes a S/PDIF stereo audio input and feeds it to four S/PDIF, two TOSLINK optical outputs, and one AES output.
