New Sony Portable Diversity Tuner for EFP and ENG ApplicationsDec 04, 2001 Sony Electronics introduced the portable WRR-861B (CH) PLL-synthesized Space Diversity Tuner designed to deliver high-quality/high-reliability reception in broadcast news and electronic field production applications. The dual-powered unit is available in two configurations: 62/64 (covering TV channels 62, 63, 64, 65) and 66/68 (covering TV channels 66, 67, 68, 69). "The WRR-861B space-diversity receiver module is built for rugged use and its lightweight body is made from die-cast magnesium," said Paul Foschino, marketing manager at Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company. "The unit is especially suitable for mounting onto Sony professional camcorders with the supplied attachment kit/case, as well as a variety of other portable applications." A single-channel version of Sony's popular WRR-862B dual-channel diversity tuner, the new WRR-861B model offers 188 tunable frequencies across a 24MHz operating range (within a 470-806MHz UHF range), and features LED and LCD indication: LED includes A/B antenna status, battery status and AF & RF indication; LCD includes group, channel, frequency, squelch level, battery alarm and back-light mode. Additional key features include: - Long operating time: Approximately eight hours of continuous operation (w/four "AA" alkaline batteries);
- Dual power: Can receive DC power directly from Sony professional camcorders (with supplied cable);
- Switchable RF squelch: Selectable between OFF, 5dBu, 10dBu and 15dBu;
- Monitoring Function: Integrated 1/8" stereo mini-jack headphone with variable level control;
- Supplied audio, DC power cables, soft case and mounting hardware; and
- Compatibility with all Sony 800MHz transmitter models in same operating range.
