The year 2006 marks PRS Guitars' 10th Anniversary of their exclusive line of custom made Private Stock instruments. The Private Stock program was founded in 1996, following 12 guitars built in 1995 known as "Guitars of the Month". These 12 instruments were the springboard to develop a line of "one-off", exclusive pieces using the best woods, craftsmanship and materials available.Paul Smith and Joe Knaggs, Director of R&D and PRS' expert luthier, were originally intending to expand the creative process of building new instruments beyond PRS Guitars' regular production line. Over time, Paul and Joe had developed a "special stock" of exceptional, exotic woods used to complete the first Private Stock guitars, enhancing new colors, inlay combinations, finish processes and tonal qualities.

After 10 years, the Private Stock program has turned into an important part of PRS Guitars' success, showcasing a formerly unknown level of craftsmanship, design, quality and breathtaking beauty. Today the Private Stock team consists of 8 very experienced, senior-level guitar makers working hand in hand with PRS' talented production line to complete some of the most beautiful guitars, basses and other stringed instruments PRS has ever made.

To celebrate the past 10 years, Joe Knaggs and his team have developed a special design, incorporating their experience, knowledge and unique artistry into the Private Stock 10th Anniversary model.
