Pink (born Alecia Beth Moore on September 8, 1979), is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter who first gained prominence in North America in early January of 2000. She is recognized by her unorthodox clothing fashion and harsh yet soulful sound. Named #12 in the UK Music Hall of Fame of the 21st century , her vocal skills have been compared to that of the late Janis Joplin, whom Pink. cites as one of her idols. Pink married Carey Hart in Costa Rica on Saturday January 7, 2006. Note that her name is also occasionally spelled P!nk.

Pink was born in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, but later moved to Doylestown Pennslyvania. The daughter of Vietnam veteran James Moore and nurse Judy Moore née Kugel; she is of Irish American, German American and Lithuanian-Jewish heritage.[1] Pink's Jewish ancestry comes from her mother's side,[2]; Pink herself does not adhere to any organized religion, although she considers herself Jewish.[3] Her father played guitar and sang songs for young Alecia, who aspired from an early age to be a rock star. Her parents divorced when she was 7 years old. While in high school, Pink joined her "first" official band, Middleground, but the band never took off. She performed in Philadelphia clubs until she was given the opportunity to fly to Atlanta and join an R&B trio called Choice, who recorded some songs and released "Key to My Heart" on the soundtrack to the movie Kazaam. When Choice performed in front of LaFace's executives, L.A. Reid was so impressed with Alecia that he offered her a record deal as a solo artist. She accepted the offer and began her career with the stage name Pink.

From music to movies, Pink has landed her first major movie role. Following her cameo performance in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, the singer had been looking for another film script that took her fancy and settled on horror flick Catacombs, which was shot earlier this year. "It's pretty intense," says Pink of the story, which co-stars Shannyn Sossamon as her character's sister. "It's not only a sort of slasher type, scary movie; it's also psychological and shows how mean and cruel siblings can be to one another. I liked that part of it." [4]

Pink is part of the official soundtrack of "Happy Feet" that arrives in November. The track Pink is doing for the movie is "Tell Me Something Good".
