Anyone who's switched electric guitars onstage knows about the annoying static, hum, and popping that induce winces from the band and audience, as well as potential damage to your equipment, when the cable is pulled from one guitar and plugged into the next. But now, with Planet Waves newest cable, the Circuit Breaker, you can put that behind you forever.
The Circuit Breaker cable's plug is able to cancel all amplifier noise by shorting the signal to ground with the push of a button. Once the button is pushed, the cable can be transferred to another guitar with no hum, noise, or pops; push the button a second time and the cable is active again. The Circuit Breaker is fail-safe, unlike other shorting plugs that use springs to short the plug after it's been removed from the guitar -- which can lose tension and malfunction.
Since the Planet Waves Circuit Breaker can be shorted while it's still plugged into the instrument, you can also use the cable to prevent unwanted noise and feedback during breaks in play. And like all Planet Waves instrument cables, the Circuit Breaker has 24-karat gold-plated plugs to provide an extra clear signal and resist corrosion, and patented compression-springs for a tight, static-free connection into the jack. "The Circuit Breaker cable is simply the safest way to prevent damage to your equipment live or in the studio when you're using multiple instruments," states Planet Waves Brand Manager Patrick Zerbo. "Ear-splitting squeals are now a thing of the past. Our beta-testers found that the Circuit Breaker became one of those essential pieces of gear that they now won't do without."
Planet Waves Circuit Breaker cables will be available in the first quarter of 2003.
