Santa Barbara, California -The resurgence of swing and rock-a-billy music has spurred renewed interest in the P-90 single-coil pickup. Originally introduced in the 1940s, it's enjoying new popularity. The tone is somewhere in between a traditional single-coil and a humbucker. It's got bite and warmth and drive. And, unfortunately, hum. That is, until now.

Seymour Duncan already offers five different P-90 single-coil models in their extensive product line. So why would the Santa Barbara-based pickup giant add yet another model? Simple. Unlike other single-coil P-90s, Duncan's latest offering is a true humbucker in a P-90 package. Using Duncan's patented Stack® technology together with adjustable pole pieces, the guitarist can now obtain get great P-90 tone in a studio-quiet pickup.

hum found in true single coils," according to Seymour W. Duncan, the company's chairman. "This is especially important in the studio and around fluorescent lights and computer monitors, or playing live in venues with older wiring." The P-90 Stack directly retrofits many P-90-routed guitars with little or no modification, and offers the guitarist an extensive pallet of tone options. Using four-conductor cable, the same pickup can be wired in series mode for higher output and a fatter tone; parallel mode for a more traditional P-90 tone; and split mode for true single-coil tone.

The P-90 Stack is hand-built in Seymour Duncan's Santa Barbara, California facility and comes packaged with all required mounting hardware including a vintage-correct black or cream cover, and a detailed schematic for the various wiring options.
