Tama Debuts Dark Continent Exotix SnareJul 27, 2005  Click image for closeup | New at the Indianapolis NAMM convention was an Exotix limited Edition snare nicknamed "The Dark Continent." The name comes from the origin of its ebony and bubinga shell--bubinga also being known as African rosewood--and its warm sound. The drum is limited to just 250 pieces worldwide with just 100 pieces going to the United States. As with all of Tama's limited edition Starclassic Exotix offerings, each snare drum comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Taka Hoshino, Tama's product manager at the Tama factory in Seto City Japan.
