In this month's "Factory Friday" video, Bob Taylor and head engineer/master machinist, Wayne Brinkley, take you inside the machine shop at Taylor Guitars. "There is no such thing as a 'guitar tool store'," says Bob. "Guitars builders create their own tools, out of necessity. And when we're building something that never existed before, like the T5 electric guitar, we usually start out with a blank page."

In "Tooling" (Episode 14 in the popular video series), Taylor and Brinkley show and explain a variety of processes that take place in Taylor's machine shop: use of industrial design software to create three-dimensional models for T5 fixtures; milling of the fixtures out of solid aluminum billets; how binding is injection-molded into the T5 f-holes; and the making of aluminum molds for various guitar parts (a single mold for one part can take an entire year to create!)

Taylor posts a new Factory Friday video on the company website on the first Friday of every month. All fourteen installments of the Factory Friday series are currently online at www.taylorguitars.com. Look for the "See/Hear" link on the homepage.
