So, to recap: even though you may be playing a Bb major triad over a C minor chord, it works, because of the inherent strength of triads. Architects know that triangle shapes are far more resistant to crushing than square shapes, for example. That's why you see lots of them in bridge construction.

Think of the triad as being like that: a strong shape to build with.
