Akai announced the V1.50 operating system for the MPC4000 Music Production Center. The V1.50 release includes a major enhancement to the MPC4000's on-board mixer, including full mixer automation that allows all mix changes to be recorded to the MPC4000's internal sequencer. In addition to the Part Mixer, a separate Pad Mixer has been added to allow quick and easy access to the mix parameters of drum programs. Mixer functions have been greatly expanded to provide instant access to FX assignments for instrument parts and/or drum pads, FX send levels and output assignments directly from the Mixer page.
Support for 16 LEVELS of Tuning has been included with the V1.50 operating system upgrade. This new feature allows a single sample to be played back across the pads with different 16 levels of tuning, allowing quick and easy programming of melodic phrases using the MPC4000's velocity and pressure sensitive pads. Additional enhancements added in the new operating system include triggering sample recordings via a MIDI note event, the ability to send MIDI sync to all MIDI outputs simultaneously, improved Q-Link performance when switching between sequences with recorded Q-Link events and improved foot switch implementation that supports PLAY/STOP and PLAY START/STOP options.
