Win a Free Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar

Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John Mayer -- it's pretty safe to say that they know a little bit about the electric guitar. And, like many players young and old, new and experienced, their main instrument happens to be the Fender Stratocaster. Case in point, there are so many known Strat players listed on the WikiPedia that they have to break them up into alphabetical subsections.

This is all very well and good, but what does this have to do with me, you may ask. Well, in our infinite wisdom, we're kicking off the new year in style with our I Heart the Strat Giveaway, and the prize is a ... wait for it ... Fender Highway 1 Stratocaster (in crimson red as shown), which we'll award on Valentine's Day.

Now, this is an American-made Strat with a rosewood fretboard and all the classic Stratocaster trimmings: 3 single-coil pickups with a 5-position selector, master volume and two tone knobs, and a vintage tremolo. It even comes with a deluxe gig bag.

So if you have heartfelt affection for this axe and a slight knack for prose, this beautiful red guitar can be yours just in time for Valentine's Day. To enter the I Heart the Strat Giveaway, simply do the following:

  1. Write a blog post that explains how winning the guitar would make your life better and influence the music you create
  2. In your post, link to this page announcing the contest. To make it easy, you can use this shortened URL:

    http://bit.ly/fU6wUi
  3. After you publish your blog post, fill in the I Heart the Strat Giveaway entry form

One entry per person. Entries must be received before February 14, 2011 EST, with a winner selected later that day and notified soon after. Bonus points if you can get your social friends to retweet, comment, link and share your post. Official rules are posted on the I Heart the Strat Giveaway page

If you don't currently have a blog, you can:

  • Easily create a post in minutes using Tumblr.com or Wordpress.com. Creating one now will also help in future giveaways we'll be running frequently this year.
  • Create your post on our Facebook wall and then use our Facebook page as the blog post URL in the entry form. Though a Facebook wall post itself won't earn you as much points as a blog post, you can raise it up by getting your friends to "like" your post or comment on it.

Good luck to all!

As a guitar teacher at my church I have many students who cannot afford to play a nice instrument like this and I don't have one this nice either. I teach lessons free since most of the children (ages 8-15) cannot afford a guitar or cost for teaching. So this custom Fender Strat woud be a nice prize for us and I thank you so much for giving me a chance to enter in this contest! I promise you that I will make good use of it if I am a winner.

I have heard so many good things about Active Musician and I know you offer many quality products and services to many people all over the world. I will spread the word and "good news" about your company throughout my music circle that I have developed over the past 50 years: our gospel B/G band "Crystal River", my guitar students, all the churches I visit and the many, many guitar friends I have down here in SE North Carolina.

God Bless you and Happy New Year!

It would beat the heck out of the cheap strat copy I have now!
After loosing my leg in 02 in a motorcycle mishap the medical bills have depleted my old collection of guitars to help offset the bills. Down to the first guitar I got when I was 14 (a Kingston) and a cheap strat copy.
This guitar would be a real blessing to me...I've allways loved Fenders...can't beat the sound & playability.

Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour...these are the guys I've idolized and emulated as a guitar player since I was thirteen years old. When my friends and I were very young we all got guitars for Christmas I got a cheap, foreign made guitar from a pawn shop. It was all my parents could afford in those days. As the years went by, it was always understood that when you finally got a Fender guitar, though, you were a real rock musician. As the years rolled by and the demands of life and family became the priority, dreams like finally owning that "guitar of guitars" became just that... a dream. However, that dream is still alive! To own an American made Fender Stratocaster (like my guitar heroes) is to own a piece of rock and roll history!

  • 13. William J. Davis   Mon, Jan 10, 2011, 2:18 PM

To own an American-made Fender Stratocaster with a rosewood fingerboard is like feeling the first warmth of a spring day after a bleak winter. The moment my fingers touch down upon that incredibly sleek neck, visions of Hendrix, Clapton, and Beck make me feel as if I'm the headliner at a Madison Square Garden extravaganza. The fans are screaming, stomping, and lit up with vibrant energy that flows throughout the rafters of the concert hall. Twenty-two beautiful jumbo frets with three sizzling single-coil pickups and a vintage tremolo bar encased in a spectacular crimson red finish allow my fingers to dance endlessly over miles of rosewood perfection. An American Strat is an instrument of artistic magnificence. To be able to plug in and play with the fire of legendary guitarists would rejuvenate my soul and bring forth a passion for the incredible genius that propelled music to the forefront in the late 1960's. "I love the Strat" because it the finest guitar ever created.

  • 14. David L. Garcia   Mon, Jan 10, 2011, 5:35 PM

I would use this Fender Stratocaster to show my young granddaughter how to play the electric guitar and become a rocker. That way I could play along with her on my Fender Jazz Bass and we could jam hard together. I'd make sure she learned all the old rock classic licks from groups like Led Zepplin, Boston, Santana and Journey to mention a few.

  • 15. Florian Braun   Mon, Jan 10, 2011, 6:58 PM

Hey,...the strat was my first love.....and it will be my last!

I tried many guitars, but a strat always makes my heart feel better!

I'd use it for teaching and live gigs! would be great to have one!

    thanx for the chance!

I was MC for my 35 year class reunion, and asked to provide music for part of it. I flew into Reno, NV and rented a Strat just like this one. I don't think a better instrument is made for the money. I am a Motorcycle Chaplain for the Christian Motorcyclists Association in the Capital Dist of NY State and am on the Music Team. I would use this beautiful Statocaster in that effort. The following link supplied as requested, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to be included in this great and generous event.

Long ago I played bass in a group called the Striplings here in Vestnes, Norway. That is now over 40 years ago. Now I have got both children and granchildren. In the last years I have had to pay more and more for holding our home, and all the other for living. My granson has now come in at the music scohool here in Trondheim, but we do not have money to get him a good guitar. He has a little quarter Fender that I did manage to gbuy to him years ago. You see, he and his mother do live alone, and I must say, his father does not give him things that costs as much as this Strat. We can not wait that his mother can, either. I have managed to buy him things, but the limit is reached now for me and my wife. We must try to keep our home as number one goal.
HOPE INDEED THAT BORGAR CAN GET THIS FENDER STRATOCASTER:

Thank You! and may G-D BLESS America!

I am going to learn how to play guitar, because I pretty much have mastered playing the bass guitar! I love music either listening to it or playing it myself on other musical instruments. I also would like to learn how to play the sax. But my first goal is to master all stringed instruments.

The Fender Stratocast is the greatest guitar ever made by Fender!
This guitar is very much like a strat I owned in the 1970's and like a fool I sold it to buy a Flying V!

I grew up learning Layla, Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower, Purple Haze, and so many others.
I would love so much to own another guitar like this one, to record new ideas to re-learn my old favorites from years ago!

The color of this guitar is really beautiful too!
Nothing beats an American Made Fender Stratocaster - a guitar that inspires all who look at it or play it!
The craftsmanship is like going home for the holidays. Warm and Cozy!

I would love this guitar, Fender Strats are the ICON in the guitar industry. I have played guitar for over 40 years but have been in a fight with cnacer for three years now. I'm just starting to play the guitar again and would put this Strat to great use and great therapy. I have been talking to my oldest grand child about playing and hope she gets involved.

I always wanted to have an original American made Strat.I had a lot of guitars, but I tried Fender strat once and I fell in love with it.But in life very rarely you get what you want,or your plans go as you lanned,so getting a guitar like this was too expensive to buy where I am from, because of the shipping cost and customs,so I never had that pleasure to own one but I had to play what I could get for the budget I could afford.I know that with this guitar I would have become even better guitar player, cause it offers more than others guitars,I felt that when I tried it before,I can tell the difference.I know that I would have advanced even more in playing guitar with this Axe,and people also know to appreciate originals and authenticity, and I would have got better offers in my music and almost professional career. But,it's never too late, who knows :)

A musical instrument made from wood is dead until a human picks it up, hugs it and their fingers dance across the strings---it becomes alive again and the sound radiates across our ears and makes us happy. Music comes from the heart and soul and it's not the quality of the instrument, it's in the fingers---but having a fine, quality instrument doesn't hurt one bit.

I am a nineteen year old with a unbelievable passion for music. My family has not had the best of luck with finance, and as of right now i play a fender squier with one single coil pickup. Since i was 10 years old, i have dedicated so much of my time to learning songs from the greatest guitarists from Hendrix to Clapton to Beck. With this guitar i would be sooo greatful because ive dreamed of making the same music as the great musicians in our world. I've dreamed of having my fingers play smoothly on the 22 frets of a great fender stratocaster with the angel sounding single coil pickups. If i get the chance to receive this guitar, i will make a difference in the world of music by creating a mix of the old and the new. Please give me the opportunity to shine in the guitar world and live out my greatest dream. This amazing guitar will make my life so much better in so many different ways. Thank you

A Strat always says “There’s no song that you can’t write and no music you can’t play”
In the blue lowdown if your music cries
In the blue sky high if your music can fly
    Leo’s spaceship gets you there
At your fingertips you’ve got the story of the blues
And upside down from a room of mirrors all tomorrow’s futures
    Holly and Hank
    and Judas and the Hawks
And old no 1 black as the moon’s dark side
Years on the road in the Emerald Isle and down in the Texas flood
White swan glitters with a teardrop paisley
63 blue went down with Alice (go cat go on a mystery trip)
Sliding down for Junior’s harp and flying with angel faces
Under England’s bright lights daily nightly
The guitar that made a 1000 stars in 1000 lowlight rooms and in a 1000 spotlights
All those stars are in reach with that magic stick
One dreamer said ‘all you need is love’
One singer said ‘all you need is 3 chords, a red guitar and the truth’
All this love inside i’s true
But my heart keeps wishing for

I think this guitar will benefit me in many ways. First, I am currently a guitarist for my rock band "Just 'Cause". I feel this guitar will add to our playing style, and will make me a better musician. This is a guitar I would really cherish the guitar, use it for live performances, and use it when writing more of our music.

My 10 year old daughter is working so hard to learn to play on a hand me down guitar. Having a beautiful looking and sounding guitar would be so wonderful. It is amazing to watch young children carry on the art of learning music and entertaining. It would make my life better because the instrument we currently use doesn't want to work properly, and I would love to save trips to have it worked on.

The guitar is beautiful and it is exciting that ActiveMusician is taking the time and expense to promote this instument and the music it can produce.

My nephew is a talented drummer who loves music. Just last week he had surgery that required 8 screws and a titanium plate be inserted into his foot. As soon as this foot is healed he will require surgery to repair the other foot. These surgeries may prevent him from playing drums forever. I would love to win this guitar for him to keep music in his life and so that he can learn to play on a quality instrument. I expect that he will pick the guitar up and within a short period of time be able to make great music with it just as he did with the drums. Music enhances our lives and brings us joy. Right now this young man, he is 22 years old, could use a little joy in his life. He will be out of work for at least six months. I bet that if you give him this Strat he will be playing like a champ in no time. He will be able to learn while he is unable to walk, he will have this skill for the rest of his life, and ActiveMusician will have two lifelong customers. Thanks.

Just the pure playability factor and beauty of this fine instrument would make any guitar lover, guitar player, beginner, collector, investor foam at the mouth to even think of winning and owning such a beauty, I have my napkin in hand at this very moment! It certainly would make my practicing and playing guitar so much better thus instantly making my life better in that regard.

Mere words cannot describe what my life will be like with a fender strat in my hands.
I have been playing guitar now for a year (by my self)...and guitar keeps me sane and creative...especialy when i play blues. ..But my current acoustic guitar cant handle much more...and i dont have the money for a new guitar...and an electric guitar would be a dream come true...maybe it will help not feeling quite so lonely on Valentines Day... God bless us...al of us!
