Pumping Nylon - Book

"Pumping Nylon" is instructional book, comes with a DVD, excellent resource for beginner to advanced player. The tremolo exercise was very helpful. Scott Tenant who authored this resource is a great player and is a member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

I don't have the book with tab, just the regular notation book. It's a wonderful exercise book for most everyone. I go through selected exercises daily for about 20 minutes to warm up. He even includes tiny copies of Giuliani's 120 Right-Hand studies in the one I have.

The other 2 books by him are not exercise manuals, but more song books.

This is one of my favorite books. Aside from including Giuliani's 120 Right-Hand Studies (extremely effective exercises) and Tarrega studies, Tenant has some really great studies on finger independance, developing the thumb, flamenco techniques, tremolo, control and velocity. I also liked what the author had to say about performance anxiety and practicing with a purpose. I can't believe how much great material is packed into fewer than 100 pages. Highly recommended.

This is an good book, even for people how do not play fingerstyle or classical music (such as my self). There is wealth of information pertaining to finger independence, dexterity, and correct left hand form.

I love this book, when I was studying classical guitar the exercises really helped me develop finger dexterity amd independance, resguedo technique, tremelo. The pieces Scott chooses to help the pupil see technique in action are pleasant to play through esspecially throse of his collegue in the LA guitar Quartet, Andrew York. I was less impressed by Scott's follow up book, Pumping Nylon 2. Although it does feature a set of variations by Joe Diorio on Etude No.1 by Heitor Villa Lobos

I have yet to find the perfect book,(if it can exist!), but this comes close. Lots of great exercises but they require patience and effort. On first seeing this book in the store I did not buy it but just glanced at it. I went home and even from the vague reading in the bookstore realised I had picked up something from it.A prompt return to the shop was required. Also any book that quotes Yoda and Bruce Lee has to have something good going for it.

This is a great book for building fingerstrength, versatility, and technique. You'll be amazed how much better your overall playing will become after practicing these exercises. If your serious about improving your fingerstyle/classical techniques this is a great book.

Pumping Nylon is a great tech. book for those wanting to bring their chops up. Great right and left hand work in an easy to understand format. MUST HAVE
