Carrie Kraft's approach to this favorite folk song is proof that early- level performances can be simply beautiful. This two-piano, eight-hand arrangement is beautiful in its simplicity, totally in character with the piece itself. With melodies and countermelodies divided among the players, the interest level is kept high. The single-line notation is easy to read, and eliminates page turns. This gentle quartet will please young players, and will also appeal to older and more advanced musicians. As expected with a Carrie Kraft arrangement, it 'works.'
