Dean Exotica FM Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Trans Black

This guitar is definatly a great looking acoustic guitar that will get you noticed (especially the blue one). The sound is different. From my experience, the electonic could be better, but it is a $350 guitar that has most of the cost tied up in cosmetic features.

Features: The top, back and sides are flamed maple, and the neck is mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. I believe it has 22 frets, most of which are accessable due to the cut away. It has Dean electonics in it. The controls are 3 sliders (low, mid, and high) and a volume knob. The available finishes are natural or blue on flamed maple, but other exotica models have different finishes. The tuners are by Grover.

Playability: The action seems low, which is not too suprising considering Dean is known more for electrics not acoustics. Playing-wise, it is pretty easy to play. The action can only be adjusted with the truss rod.

Sound: Unplugged, it sounds very bright due to the flamed maple. It sounds decent with ball end nylon strings. I have only plugged it in to an amp (electric not acoustic) once and was not really impressed with the sound, but it might be better with the right amp. I think the type of music makes or breaks this guitar with respect to sound because it is bright.

Durability: With steel strings, it seems to stay in tune well. I haven't really abused it to know how durable it is. It doesn't seem to change much with climate either.
