The American Film Institute continues its celebration of the first century of American filmmaking with AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs, honoring the greatest songs in American movies. The special, originally broadcast June 22, 2004 on CBS, sparked a national discussion of America's film history among movie lovers across the nation. The songs were chosen by a jury of 1500 leaders from the creative industry and were decided on the basis of the song, cultural impact, and legacy.
