This book recounts the story of all the electric steel guitars - or electric Hawaiian guitars, as they were called during most of their tenure - that were built by Gibson between 1935 and 1967. Hawaiian guitars were the most popular form of electric guitars until the 1950s, and they contributed to some crucial developments in pickups and amplification in addition to lending their voice to the earliest solid body electrics. Aesthetically, the early postwar instruments are also amongst the coolest designs ever produced by Gibson. ·Over 450 illustrations, including a wealth of color pictures, catalog reproductions, and patent drawings · A comprehensive section on dating instruments as well as detailed shipping totals for the 1935-1967 period.

"You guys are awesome! I placed my order Tuesday morning and the item was delivered Wednesday UPS. Unbelievable service!"

-- L.N., Trumbull, CT
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Received the guitar yesterday afternoon, only 1 day after it shipped UPS ground. It's everything as described and more. Pestered you a couple of times with questions about my order and you were gracious, down to earth, and quick to respond. We can't wait to see our Granddaughter's face when she opens this gift. Would highly recommend your site to anyone."

-- D.U., Orland Park, IL
"I placed my order for an accordion on a Sunday morning before President's Day, expecting the typical delays associated with weekend and holiday orders. Then, to my surprise, the accordion arrived on Tuesday right after President's Day. I was very pleased, not only for the quality of service, but also for the quality of the instrument. The sound is beautiful, and I will play it in church this coming Sabbath. Many thanks"
