Incredible Scale Finder

Well, as you know from reading my lessons, I spenda lot of time studying scales, and i my guitr backpack, have three ain sources for scale finding. (In order of Preference) The Ultimate Scale Bible A Folder of over 90 scale print outs The Incredible Scale Finder Now ot of my resources this isn't my favorte, butI do think this the best book to go for one you begin scale/improv study. This Book only covers the 17 most essential scales/modes, which is still much more than the average guiarist will mster in a lifetime, but hwat mak this book good for beginner is it's clar expanation of the theory behind scale usage and the chart of major scale chords is just great. Now if you know all theory and understand how to use a scale, 'd recommend a larger library or just to use wholenote.com's scale geerator,but if your starting, this book has jus abou everything you needto buy for years... upon years. THis is Quality or Quantity book, get it even if you don't think you need, it's a great reference book.

This 103 page, 6"x9" book lists 17 scales and modes. Each scale has about 16 modes: Major (Ionian), Major Pentatonic, Natural Minor (Aeolian), Minor Pentatonic, Blues, Mixo-Blues, Mixolydian, Dorian, Melodic minor, Harmonic Minor, Phrygian, Locrian, Lydian, Diminished (half-mode), Diminished (whole-mode)and Chromatic. Each mode contains a whole neck pattern and 7 other patterns. Each is illustrated. Each illustration has the fingering and the notes. There is no CD or tape. It is almost overwhelming. Both my most and least favorite thing about this book is that there is so much information. There are the illustrations decent. There are a lot of them, though. I don't use this book so much, but if I did, it might fall apart at the binding. A sprial binding would be better for opening and laying the book flat. There is very little in the way of theory and explanation. It a book of scales. There is a little piece on soloing and improvising, but only about a page. This is not for a beginner. I am fearful that if I stare at it too long, my head will explode. In short, this book has about all you need to know about the scale.
