This book isn't for the person looking for a quick-fix solution to their slapping problems. Many people might skip the early sections of the book, containing many different exercises, and head for the back of the book containing musical examples of slapping. This is a mistake. Everyone can benefit from the exercises since they help with timing and accuracy. This is a great book that can really help a player develop their slapping skills.

This book is very helpful in understand what it takes to put soul into your bass lines. The book has a real easy layout and format. The book comes with a CD.

This book taught me how to slap! I've had this book for a few years now and have gone back to it from time to time to learn a new slap bass riff to add to my repertoire.

The CD is great because of the number of interesting riffs on it. There are hundreds of riffs from basic to advanced. (I'm still in the middle somewhere.)

It's also not-so-great because the riffs aren't looped so you only get a little taste of the riff and then you move on to the next riff (which makes the 'pause' and 'rewind' buttons on your player a 'must').

If you are a beginning "slapper", I highly recommend it. Even for the advanced players, there are quite a few tasty licks. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this book. My copy is looking pretty worn out from usage.

This is an instructional book with a CD. It begins with basic slap technique and exercizes, then moves on to some really funky lines. Though-out the chapters, the slap riffs get more and more difficult as well as more stylish. It is an excellent book for begginer slappers as well as the most Advanced funk players. This book has improved my slap skills, my rythem, my speed and most importantly, my timing.

A great book for slapping and popping - the only downside is that each recorded example is not on it's own track, so you can't set your disc player to repeat an example over & over to learn it (maybe this problem has been fixed - Funk/Fusion Bass has each example on it's own track). The musical examples are varied and excellent!

Work through this book (actually do the exercises) and every aspect of your playing will improve. slap and pop most obviously, but also timing, rhythm, sight reading, stamina, hammerons, pulloffs, trills, bends, everything. in addition, it's huge resource of funk lines and a good start for helping you build your own. it comes with a cd, but if you can read music (rhythmically at least) and own a metronome/drum machine it's mostly unnecessary. on a scale of one to awesome, i would rate it at totally awesome.

This is a cool book for beginners or maybe intermediates.But if you know the basics this book won't tell anything new.

This is an instructional book on techniques associated with funk such as slapping, popping, muting, tapping, hammer ons, pull offs. I feel it is suitable for all levels. I myself am a beginner and it does a good job explaining all the techniques. It also has advanced funk lines that I think more advanced players would get a lot out of. It does come with a CD which covers the last two chapters of advanced funk lines. I find the lines fun and a pleasure to learn. I am slowly working my way through it because there are some very difficult lines in it. The exercises are all very helpful and range from very easy to intermediately difficult. The only knock I have is that I wish they would have included some of the easier lines on the CD. It would benefit beginners to be able to hear how some of the easier lines sound, in my opinion. Overall I think it is an EXCELLENT book and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
