The Nashville Numbering System - 2nd Edition

The book is both a history of how the system came about, endorsements form people who adopted it and a guide to learn the system. I found myself saying the same thing that many of the famous endorsers were quoted on learning the system,"why didn't I ever think of that?" The system is a simple and intuative way to plot out the parts of a song. It takes an hour to learn and apply right away. The band I'm in already loves it as it makes rehersal communication easier. Every one knows right away what part of the song is being discussed. It makes it very easy to get through new material and remember how we decide to break, end, etc., from one rehersal to the next. The whole song can be noted on less than a sheet of legal tablet paper. The book could have been shorter and gotten to the point of the system more directly. However, the stories are interesting and the system is so simple that without the stories there wouldn't be much of a book left. I would have liked more examples of notes from different musicians, but those can be found on various sites on the web. I can't imagine anyone who plays with any kind of group who wouldn't find this useful.
