Chimtas

Chimtas (Item Code: CHMT) You may still see these being used as fire tongs, for cooking chapatti bread. In its original form it is found without the added jingles and with sharply pointed ends.

As a percussion instrument, the Chimta are a traditionally part of South Asian music, and often used in popular Punjabi Bhangra music.

Our chimta consists of a long, flat folded piece of Stainless Steel, with pairs of small stainless jingles. To play clap the steel tongs together with one hand, while the other hand manipulates the ring against the tongs.
