Ars Nova Counterpointer is the first software ever to offer evaluation of both species and free counterpoint, and can serve both as a self-contained introduction to counterpoint and as a tool to accompany counterpoint textbooks.

Counterpointer includes notation tools for entering and saving music and more than 150 user-controllable style rules. Compositions can be saved, heard, printed, and exported as MIDI files. Counterpointer's student file is the same type as those used by Practica Musica: if you are already a Practica Musica student you can use the same student file to do work in Counterpointer, and your exercise scores will be added to those earned in Practica Musica.

Features:

  • Species exercises based on generated c.f.s that are always new
  • Exercises in realizing Roman numerals in 4-part vocal harmony (harmony based on Bach examples)
  • Exercises in realizing figured bass in 4-part vocal harmony (harmony and bass from Bach examples)
  • Free composition in 2-8 voices using your own choice of style rules
  • An onscreen manual offering a basic introduction to counterpoint and explanations of each rule
  • Available for Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Macintosh 9.1-9.2, and Macintosh OS X

"My husband and I are really impressed with your customer service. It's a rarity to experience the type of attention that you have paid to this matter. The school where our two kids attend, has violin as a part of their third grade curriculum. After the customer service you have shown we both would feel comfortable endorsing your company to other parents at the school who will be needing violins and other instruments for their children."

"Thanks so much! Wow, I'm really impressed with your service. I have ordered the Techniques book for my son and am hoping he'll be inspired. Thanks so much again for your prompt response and service. I'll be coming back for more and recommending you to others."

-- M.M., North Barrington, IL
"I must say your website is far better than any other I've encountered during my conquest for guitar picks sold on the web or at any retailer in my new town of residence. Your site was the first I've seen (of many) to have picks listed in an accessory department (the pictures were really swell) or any other I've checked, for that matter."
