| Universal Sound Editor/Librarian. Macintosh compatible. Made by Sound Quest. (TW.SOUMQXL3)
Rated '10' by Electronic Musician, Midi Quest 9 gives you all the features you would expect to find in a Universal Editor/Librarian and much more. Why work with your MIDI instruments (and devices) through a tiny LCD or LED when you can take full advantage of your computer's large monitor to get a real look inside each of your instruments. Forget about 7 layers of menus and pressing a dozen different buttons to make a minor change to your instrument, you can have all of your instrument's settings on the computer screen. Its much faster, safer, and more effective than working from each instrument's different front panel and frequently clumsy operating system. Midi Quest supports over 600 of the most popular instruments. You can store, organize, and edit the Patches, Combinations, Multis, Performances, Drums settings, and other data from each of your MIDI instruments and devices. You can't beat the power of Midi Quest when it comes to managing and effectively utilizing your patch collection. Midi Quest XL redefines the way you use editor/librarians by integrating directly into Cubase or any other VST host application. Midi Quest XL is the only editor/librarian that integrates directly into these sequencers so that you can do all of your patch editing, auditioning, and organization without leaving your sequencer. Not only can you work within your sequencer's environment but there are a complete set of automation features so your sequencer can automatically send SysX data at any time in a piece. What is Midi Quest XL? - Midi Quest XL is the professional version of Midi Quest 9 and includes all of the most advanced editor/librarian features and is the only version of Midi Quest to include a VST plug-in.
VST Plug-in Support - Midi Quest XL includes a VST plug-in. This plug-in allows you to run Midi Quest XL in any software application that supports the VST standard.
- The VST plug-in is only included with Midi Quest XL
- The VST plug-in now supports VST parameter automation. All parameters edits can be recorded in your sequencer and played back later
Export Bank Names in XML Name Document format - Midi Quest XL is able to write XML Name files. This is a new name storage format recently approved by the MMA (MIDI Manufacturers Association) as a standard for describing all of the names of the various multis, combis, patches and other data in a MIDI device. Currently Midi Quest is the only editor/librarian software to support this new cross platform format.
- If you are currently using Digidesign's ProTools sequencing software on your Macintosh, you can now use Midi Quest XL (on a PC) to generate your patch name documents and store them on your Macintosh
Name Servers - In Midi Quest XL there are three Name Servers, one for Cakewalk's MASTER.INS file, one for Cubase Patch Name Scripts, and one for XML
- What is a Name Server? A Name server provides an automated way to keep all of your Patch Name files up to date automatically so you don't have to update the Patch names in your sequencer every time you send a new bank out to an instrument. All you have to do is set up the Name Server and you can forget about it.
- How does it work? You tell the Name Server where the files are that your sequencer uses to provide patch names. Once Midi Quest XL knows this, every time you send SysX data out to the instrument Midi Quest automatically updates the appropriate files. Its easy and your sequencer will stay in sync with your instruments.
- The Name Servers even support multiple installations so you could have a copy of Cubase SX, Cubase 5, Sonar 1, Sonar 2, Cakewalk Home Studio and Digidesign's ProTools running on a Mac and Midi Quest XL will keep them all updated
