John Petrucci - Rock Discipline (DVD)

Very intimidating for beginner/intermediate players(like me), also, it lacks a musical sens. Extremely challenging in techniques, you have to be very patient. Once the video is completed, I hope you can be called a "complete musician".

This video can be recommended for players who like to play in "technical" way and want to find some new ideas. Good exercises that can be used for musical purposes too.

John Petrucci is good but his video could be better.

This guitarist know his stuff! If there's anyone who is familiar with the group Dream Theater or Liquid Tension Disorder can concur with my feelings. His video takes you through numerous exercises: scalular, arpeggios, chordal etc. What makes his video interesting is: one- he's personable unlike some pretentious videos (Yngwie). two- he shows you what he knows and teaches only what he knows, which is plenty. three- he gives plenty of musical examples and musical situations. four- he's patient. My negative comment is the length and prone to venture into being monotoned. I definitely suggest this video for anyone of any style. The exercises are very challenging and rewarding. Give it a try.
