Schubert wrote 452 short dances and this collection presents 52 of the most beautiful, melodic, and expressive waltzes written by this beloved composer. Included are a representative sampling of the kind of dance music Schubert must have improvised for parties. The Valses Nobles, Op. 77, D 969 are included in their entirety along with 18 of the Letzte Walzer (Last Waltzes), Op. 127, D 146. Other waltzes were chosen from Op. 9, Op. 18, Op. 33, and Op. 50.
